We are very cautious these days when it comes to starting a new year. I don’t remember the last time I saw someone confidently declare a year “their year”, entering it with any sort of enthusiasm. We all walk around carefully, hoping not to anger the Fates. I guess a pandemic among other things will do that to you. But I say screw that. Forget your superstitions. Forget your cautious pessimism. At worst, the universe has no idea I’m even here to mess with me one way or the other. At best, there are forces of good out there willing to bless my efforts even if some of those forces are fellow humans willing to give me a hand up. So, 2022 will be whatever I damn well can shape it into. I’ll fall on my face from time to time, but so far I’ve always gotten back up again. I invite you to join me in facing whatever 2022 has to offer with a chip on your shoulder and fire in your heart.
