A Family Thing
I’m very excited to be a part of Scares That Care Charity Weekend coming up July 29th – 31st in Williamsburg, Virginia. If you’re going, give me a holler in the comments or out your window loud enough for me to hear. I’ve written in many places about how much this convention has meant to me and the great things the charity behind it does. If you are anywhere near and can go, please do. I’d like to see you and it’s for a good cause. I’ll link to the convention at the bottom of this newsletter as well.
For a number of years, I’ve been running the charity 5k during that weekend. This year I’m signed up, but I’m not up for it. Recovering from a heart attack still and other setbacks, I’m running as part of my rehab, but I’m not back to even a 5k distance yet.
My ten-year-old son has decided to do the kids’ fun run. He is also working to raise $1500 for the charity. If you’d like to help him reach his goal, you can send a little money the charity’s way via my son’s fundraiser linked here. I’m proud of him. Where I was not able to stand up and run this year, he has stepped in to take my place. Help him reach his goal, if you would. It’ll mean a lot for a lot of people.
My wife and both my sons are coming with me. It’s a family trip now, I guess. The good people there are as close as family to me too. Everyone wants to describe their event and people as family. A lot of times it isn’t true. I can’t think of a convention event that comes closer to that in reality than Scares. I expect I will sell well at this convention, but if I don’t sell a thing, my goal will still be met in seeing my friends again. That is no small miracle in my view. I know how precious and perilous life is. I do not take these chances lightly. If I don’t see you there, I hope to see you soon.

Great story! Can’t wait to meet the boys next week. I pledged a donation to Henry’s fun run. Hope he meets his goal. I loved what he wrote in his pledge page!
Glad you enjoyed it. It should be a fun weekend,
